STUDENT GROUP TOURS

Full-Day and Half-Day Walking Tours are available for Junior and Senior High School classes. Half-Day Tours are available for Grades K thru 6.

Because of the variance in school arrival and dismissal times, tour starting and ending times are customized to fit your school's requirements. Tours range from two-and-a-half hours to five-and-a-half hours in length.

Interdisciplinary Approach
Although the emphasis of these tours lies strongly on the history, architecture and art of St. Louis, they relate as well to geology, music, literature and government. Every school tour is customized to the grade and comprehension level of the students and to the instructor's chosen emphasis - photography, social studies, etc.

Special Needs Tours
I am happy to guide Walking Tours for Students with Special Needs. Downtown St. Louis is easily explored by wheelchair and has much to offer students who are visually or audibly impaired.

Physical Work-Outs
Student Walking Tours are designed to be physically challenging, covering areas between one mile and four miles depending upon the grade level and scope of the tour. Students are encouraged to bring water bottles.

Attire
Students should wear comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate to the weather. We will be outdoors most of the time. Sometimes we will be sitting on the ground. Students are encouraged to record their experiences with sketch pads, drawing materials and cameras.

Chaperones
Minimum of one teacher per student tour and one adult for every ten students unless teacher advises otherwise.

Cost
The cost for a Full-Day Tour is $5.00 per student with a $100.00 minimum. The cost is $2.50 per child for a Half-Day Tour with a $50.00 minimum. There is no charge for teachers and chaperones.
A non-refundable booking fee of $25.00 will apply to the total bill.

Transportion
Transportation to and from school is the responsibility of the school.

Safety
Safety is my utmost concern. Ultimate responsibility lies with the individual student or adult. I do not accept responsibility for accident or injury unless it results from my negligence.

Permission slips
Students should have signed permission/guardian slips as required by state law.

Lunch
Although break-time is included for lunch in a full-day tour, the cost of lunch is not included. Students may purchase lunch or bring their lunch with them. There are a variety of good and affordable places to eat within two blocks of Kiener Plaza. Suggestions are available upon request.

Cancellations
In the event of inclement weather or other emergency a Student Tour may be rescheduled.

Students are invited to submit questions about St. Louis history and comments about their St. Louis Walking Tour experiences.

Dear Mrs. Kavanaugh, Thank you for giving us that wonderful tour of St.Louis. You opened my eyes to knowing and seeing so much more about the city I live in. I realize there is much more to St. Louis than its sports teams, SLU's name all down Grand Avenue, the Arch and the river. I am beginning to see the beauty of the U.S.A. starting right here in our very own city of St. Louis. Donesha B., Saint Frances Cabrini Academy
